washington, dc

Now that we're in the final days of summer, we decided that it was time to take a trip to Washington, DC. We had a lovely few days being tourists and visiting with my brother and his wife (who live very nearby). We rode the Metro, visited loads of museums, checked out as many of the monuments as our tired feet would allow, rode the carousel, visited the temple where we were married, took the kids for dim sum (only one of my kids actually cried when lunch was put in front of them....), and ate some pretty awesome burgers and fries at the Good Stuff Eatery.

Everyone always seems to get along so well when we're on vacation....case in point: Miles and Aydan holding hands at the National Aquarium.

Everyone agreed that the Washington monument looks much cooler when you're looking
at it upside down.

Astronaut Miles
He now wears this everywhere we go. And I mean everywhere. Even to bed.

No visit would be complete without checking out the Natural Science Museum.

Who's kid is that in the fountain in front of the Washington, DC Temple? Oh, that's my kid. Yikes.

Taking a tour of the temple grounds and the visitors center was a great way to end our trip. We made pb&j in the parking lot (I know, classy) and then everyone slept on the long ride home. Lovely!
Now if only the mountains of laundry were as much fun as the trip....
