7 hours after checking in, we finally got a room. I guess that's what you get for booking online through hotels.com. Seriously though, the nurse said they have a ton of people that are getting checked in for serious flu and pneumonia, and so they had a bit of a bed shortage.
We are in Duke North hospital in room #4331. After the surgery tomorrow, Erika will be moved to the ICU unit for recovery. The surgeon is supposed to come by in a little while and talk over some things before tomorrow, so that should be both terrifying and interesting.
weird and scary stuff: ICU, funky shampoo that Erika has to shampoo with in a few minutes
so far: 1 People magazine front to back, lots of pages read from Little Women, Hardees lunch, a nap for Rich - otherwise using laptop and smartphone nearly continuously.
*They think that the surgery will happen first thing in the morning, which means 7:30 am. Dr. Friedman will be coming by the room in a few minutes to give us more information and discuss the surgery.
